Thank YOU Sean!
We attempted a hard drive swap with no success. Which we believe with our skills is 99% directly related to this:
I see several discussions about changing the hard drive interface in BIOS to fix the missing drive on Ubuntu, et al. The following thread has one of the more explicit fixes and explanations.
For those just seeing this thread, we are using PC Dr Oliver mentioned he bought here:

libdc1394-25-dev ATTEMPT:
Mot sure why. I have not been able to share the errors in the toolkit libdc1394-25-dev code swap.
solanicParticipantFollowup test.
Previous comments did not show up here.
solanicParticipantA newer update since my last post today Sean or anyone following this
Missing 1 line of code?

solanicParticipantHi Sean
It seems – I don’t have enough skills yet to know if this is the dead end – the PC Oliver recently purchased may not work with LM21 & updated VRUI.
Curious your take. (Hopefully Oliver sees this soon to respond.)

The short version: 19.3 & 20.1 can not see hard drive in this PC.
This past Saturday I spend hours with a friend experienced in Linux Mint & hardware – although he uses LM in virtual machines.
solanicParticipantOh my gosh. That’s great!
My high school mascot was the …. fighting Canaries.
solanicParticipantThank you Sean! It seems Oliver has moved on to a different school at UCLA and is running different projects.
I, we – I’m building this with a high school teacher, hope to be able to maintain a vibrant community around this and eventually be able to add more simulations.
Is Artie your nickname? 🙂
We are so happy you reached out to help us. Thank you again!
We look forward to helping maintain & build a vibrant community around this ARS platform.
solanicParticipantThank you Sean! Being new to Linux again I’m getting that impression.
( I would have deleted or edited a couple of my posts in here if possible as I kept learning. )
Not sure if this is helpful – here’s a thread in Mint with a reply on a fix that appeared to me, being a rookie, came close to success.

Question: which version of 20 do you recommend?
solanicParticipantit appears libdc1394-22-dev is superceded by libdc1394
solanicParticipantDoes this appear to be the fix?
I have not tried it as I am new to Linux and all of the sandbox software & hardware.https://zoomadmin.com/HowToInstall/UbuntuPackage/libdc1394-22-dev
solanicParticipantI posed another new thread then I found your recommendations here.
Happy with this set up so far?
I’m looking to build a mobile sandbox with a great teacher whose high school class is going to take to elementary schools.
solanicParticipantHello!
Very excited to have found the Augmented Reality Sandbox & even more excited I get to help a really great teacher build this for his juniors & seniors!! Those kids will use our Sandbox to teach elementary school kids too. How fun is that!?I apologize in advance if I missed this someplace …
I’ve been trying to find a list of computer hardware that’s recommended to use.I’ve dug around this site looking: https://web.cs.ucdavis.edu/~okreylos/ResDev/SARndbox/
Any help would be greatly appreciated. 🙂
