We attempted a hard drive swap with no success. Which we believe with our skills is 99% directly related to this:
I see several discussions about changing the hard drive interface in BIOS to fix the missing drive on Ubuntu, et al. The following thread has one of the more explicit fixes and explanations.

It seems – I don’t have enough skills yet to know if this is the dead end – the PC Oliver recently purchased may not work with LM21 & updated VRUI.
Curious your take. (Hopefully Oliver sees this soon to respond.)

The short version: 19.3 & 20.1 can not see hard drive in this PC.
This past Saturday I spend hours with a friend experienced in Linux Mint & hardware – although he uses LM in virtual machines.
Thank you Sean! It seems Oliver has moved on to a different school at UCLA and is running different projects.
I, we – I’m building this with a high school teacher, hope to be able to maintain a vibrant community around this and eventually be able to add more simulations.

Not sure if this is helpful – here’s a thread in Mint with a reply on a fix that appeared to me, being a rookie, came close to success.

Question: which version of 20 do you recommend?
it appears libdc1394-22-dev is superceded by libdc1394
Does this appear to be the fix?
