Damn Sean you are a genius haha, that was the problem, thanks for enlightening those less skilled in linux, also thanks for replying so fast!

People that want to uso buttons to flood/dry and switch texture can use this post to work it out, my cfg is at upper part of the post if anyone want to use it.

I did look at the solution from river wey trust i think this one is based on that or is the same at some point, but I did not see at Github the cfg with the script part calling for weather switch for a button, so it was not simple to figure it out. anyway there are many things that i will try from river wey trust.

    Thanks again!

Hi sean when i run that command i get this error on the other terminal

    civur@civur-H410M-H-V3:~$ /home/civur/src/scripts/weather.sh
    bash: /home/civur/src/scripts/weather.sh: Permission denied

My /src/scripts/weather_file.tmp file only has the word rain

Hi andreas, do you have the power adapter for the kinect? i recall having a a similar error before i knew i needed one.
or it might be the kinect model, seems like support of kinect v2 was experimental i do not know if they work with the current software.

also i am not sure if you are talking about this but you can see step 16 of the instructions to set flood and drain buttons.

Hi Farren, I have build 2 sandboxs with a epson powerlite s41+ and a epson powerlite s31+ both are not short-throw projector, they are about 140-150 cm/ 55 inch above the sand. Also, I just put the kinect at that same height, so it’s not really necessary to put it lower than the projector, you lose a little resolution, but people can’t really tell the differences they will still be amazed from the sandbox.
So I can’t help you with the shadow problem if you put it lower, but i will try in some weeks with a new one to see what happens.

I found this comment that may help for future GPU questions:

“As far as I am aware the only thing that matters is the number of cuda cores 1050ti has 768. Gtx 970 has 1664, 980=2043 980ti=2860 1060=1280 1070=1920 1080=2560, 1650=896 Cores. Other stuff does matter as 1080 is faster than 980ti but second hand cost means I have a 980ti”

If this is correct, your water simulation might go a little slow. But anyway it should work, as sean said.

    Also, about memory differences:
“From my experience memory isn’t as important as pure processing power”

In my case I’m using a 1060 3 GB instead of a 6gb without problems

Hi Sean, no, I’m looking this graphic to put behind the sandbox.
